More than a brewery, Potrero Brewing is the closest thing this town has to a living room — a beer garden and community hub that's been pouring in the heart of Potrero for over a decade. The taps rotate through everything from crisp lagers to hazy IPAs brewed on-site, and there's house-made root beer and limeade for anyone skipping the alcohol. On-site food trucks handle the eating; think Nicaraguan grill, breakfast café, burgers and pizza. Come for a pint, stay for trivia, music bingo, live bands, or a game on the big screen. Open Monday through Saturday 11am–10pm, Sundays till 9.

This cozy café near the Potrero Medical Plaza has built a loyal following on the strength of its coffee — regulars will argue it's the best in Guanacaste — backed by a pastry case that doesn't skimp, with vegan and gluten-free options that are hard to find out here. Beyond the espresso and gallo pinto breakfasts, there's a full lineup of made-to-order sandwiches and lunch plates. Owner Fabio runs a genuinely warm spot that doubles as a champion for the local street dogs, so you'll often find a rescue or two lounging nearby. Come for the coffee, stay for the vibe.
